AvoDerm Dog Food Switch Update

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of AvoDerm Natural pet foods for IZEA Worldwide. All opinions are 100% mine.

About 90 days ago, we made a big switch in Delilah’s dog food. We changed her over from a popular premium food to AvoDerm Natural pet foods. You can read all about it here. In that post, we were excited with the switch.

I wanted to post a follow-up and let you know how it’s going about 90 days in. The short version? Delilah is still loving it and we are continuing to see a lot of positive results in her coat and especially her skin. Want to know more? Keep reading, or Switch now on Amazon!

What’s in AvoDerm Natural?

AvoDerm originally got my attention when it said that it was made in California and that its main ingredient was avocados! Yes, avocado. Do dogs or cats eat this kind of fruit? Yes, they actually do. I was also impressed that they use California avocados.

Why avocados? Because they are a superfood. Aside from avocado, the food product also contains other fruits, vegetables rich in wholesome grains and antioxidants, and meat protein.

Since I was looking for a high-quality dog food that is rich in protein and nutrients, AvoDerm was a great choice.

When Did the Company of AvoDerm Start?

They started making dry foods in their plant in the USA in 1947, and they always make sure that their products are all made of high quality ingredients with balanced nutrition and that they are high in vitamins and minerals.

AvoDerm Natural was first sold in 1982 and became one of the company’s best selling products. Since then they have created various kinds of wet and dry natural pet foods.

How is AvoDerm Made?

All AvoDerm dry foods are made in Irwindale, California by Breeder’s Choice Pet Foods. It is a company that has been running for over 70 years.

When it comes to their suppliers, they carefully select them to make sure that they’ll only receive the highest quality of Californian avocados to go in each produced bag and can of their dry and wet food products. Picking a good quality avocado isn’t an easy task. I’ve done this when I think about buying some when I go to the grocery store.

Before the company plant makes a bag or can of AvoDerm Natural, they make sure that all the ingredients are tested before it gets accepted into its facilities. The foods they make are made into small batches.

Cooking the food at a low temperature can help promote better health and digestion for our dog.

Why Are Avocados Used?

So, why did the company use avocados instead of other fruits? Okay well, I don’t work in their company but I think I have an idea why they chose avocado.

Avocados aren’t called superfoods for nothing. The fruits are dense in nutrients, rich in fiber, and very rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids thus making them a superfruit. These healthy nutrients will give our dogs a healthier skin and more beautiful coat.

The natural products of AvoDerm don’t contain fillers, artificial preservatives, soy, wheat, or animal by-product meats. This helps reduce our dog’s sensitivities and food allergies.

The food products are also good for dogs that have certain health problems since avocados contain nearly 20 various kinds of vitamins and minerals and are full of anti-oxidants.

The Change in Our Dog’s Appetite

Like I’ve mentioned earlier, we switched to AvoDerm Natural pet food about 90 days ago.

I checked the bag of dry food as soon as it arrived at my home, and it actually looked fresh and made from high-quality ingredients. The transition is an important part of the process. As I mentioned last time, you should follow a plan to switch.

Switching abruptly can disrupt your dog’s digestive pattern and may cause them to vomit or have diarrhea.

I’ll repeat the transition plan so you can see it here.

The Transitioning Method

This is the suggested 6-day transition of AvoDerm that you should follow so that your pet can adjust well and start eating a new brand of dog food.

Day 1 to 2:

Feed your pet with 80% of its old dog food brand and 20% of AvoDerm kibbles.

Day 3 to 4:

Next go to 50-50, meaning use half of the old brand and new brand on your dog’s food bowl.

Day 5:

Do the opposite way of day 1 and 2. Make it 80% of AvoDerm product and 20% of the old brand.

Day 6:

And lastly, put 100% of AvoDerm kibbles on your dog’s food bowl.

This way, your dog can slowly adjust to the new change of food and it will be less likely to cause problems with its digestive system.

Visible Changes After the Switch

It actually surprised me when I saw the changes in my dog after weeks of feeding him with this food.

After a month or so, I could clearly see the changes in my pet’s physical health. His fur became shinier than before, he doesn’t itch as much as he used to, I don’t even see dandruff on his skin anymore (just in case you don’t know, yes dogs can also have dandruff like the humans), and he became much more active and happier.

I’m really happy to see that my dog is practically glowing after months of feeding with AvoDerm. My dog was eating high-quality dog food before, so actually seeing the visible changes really did surprise me.

Conclusion:

Giving your dog the proper way of care is one of the most important responsibilities of a dog owner. This includes feeding your dog high-quality foods.

But don’t just randomly pick up a high-quality dog food. Research it to know what its contents are, what is it made of, where is it made, that kind of stuff. Also, check if the product has a lot of positive reviews.

I’ve seen all of those when I made my research on AvoDerm and that’s why I switched to it. I’m happy, my dog’s happy, and healthier as well. So, why don’t you make your pet happy too? Switch now on Amazon and see the changes that I’ve seen with my pet.
