While they do enjoy going on long, lazy walks, they don’t need a lot of outdoor space to be happy. One thing to keep in mind, is their coat. It will require some grooming to keep him looking cute, but hey, you can brush their hair while being lazy on the couch, right?

If you are looking for a companion for a long walk, the basset hound isn’t for you. However, if you’d like to snuggle for hours and hours on the couch, the basset hound will eagerly hop up next to you and stay there for as long as you want to. He will cheerfully wag his tail and does well in social situations.
He is also goofy and playful, so he’s good for a laugh and a smile. Due to just how laid back they are, they require very little grooming and are ok with just a little exercise.
